Ajay Kumar Samir, born in 1970 in Garhwal, is a New Delhi-based contemporary artist whose visual language seamlessly blends cubism, surrealism, and intricate line work. A graduate of the College of Art, New Delhi (B.F.A. Painting), Samir’s art delves into themes of identity, memory, and human consciousness through fragmented forms and layered symbolism. His meticulous cross-hatching and overlapping perspectives create compositions that straddle realism and abstraction, drawing viewers into a reflective engagement with the inner and outer worlds of human experience.
Since the early 1990s, Samir has held numerous solo exhibitions across India, including at Triveni Kala Sangam, Shridharani Art Gallery, Dhoomimal Art Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi, and Nehru Centre, Mumbai. A recipient of multiple honors—including the AIFACS All India Award (2003), Kala Shri Award (1987), and Bank of Punjab Art Award (2001–2003)—Samir’s achievements reflect his enduring contribution to Indian modern art.
