Born in 1981, Umakant Tawde is a contemporary artist whose creative journey reflects a deep engagement with the subtleties of form, color, and human emotion. A graduate of the prestigious Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts, Mumbai (BFA, 2002), Tawde has developed a distinctive visual language that blends realism with contemplative abstraction.
Over the past two decades, his works have been showcased in numerous solo exhibitions across India and abroad, including prestigious venues such as Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai; Museum Art Gallery, Mumbai; and World Art Dubai, UAE. His participation in international art events like the Affordable Art Fair, Singapore and India Art Festival (Mumbai and Delhi editions) has further established his presence in the global art community.
Tawde’s paintings often explore themes of inner stillness, human resilience, and peace — as reflected in shows like “Stillness Speaks” (2009) and “Manifesto of Peace” (2010). His art exudes a quiet strength, inviting viewers into meditative spaces where balance and introspection take form through color and composition.
He has also been part of several notable group exhibitions, including those at JS Art Gallery (Dubai), Painted Rhythm Art Gallery (Mumbai), and Tilting Art Gallery (Pune), as well as international showcases in New York and Singapore.
Today, Umakant’s works are part of many private collections in India and overseas. Through his paintings, he continues to express a timeless dialogue between thought and tranquility — a testament to his enduring pursuit of artistic and spiritual harmony.
